I want you to see online business in Nigeria and from Nigeria as a real business.

Don’t see it otherwise, because if you treat it as a real business, then you must be motivated enough to invest in it, nurture it, and grow it into a profitable business that will continue to pay you for years to come.

How can I make money from home in Nigeria?

Okay. This one is quite common. Now the truth is that it is possible to make money from your home in Nigeria. We call it work-from-home jobs. Now there are a couple of websites that offer such employment opportunities, such as Flexjobs, but you can get such jobs if you have the requisite qualifications.

I want you to know that if you have a Nigerian degree, and want to get a remote job online, say, America, please don’t rely on your degree. They may not take you because the Nigerian degree has no weight or good reputation abroad.

You might ask why. This is because the Nigerian educational system is quite of a poor standard, compared to even other African countries. That’s why you have thousands of Nigerian students in Ghana, studying.

So if you want to get a remote job online with a Nigerian degree, what you can do to enhance your chances is to get an international certification that is recognized, and also get some skills such as IT skills. If the job is IT-related, such as programming or creative/media, then your skills will help enhance your chances.

Can I make quick money online in Nigeria?

Well, Nigerians and sharp sharp, lol! I’m grinning as I type this. You see, we Nigerians are used to shortcuts. It started when corruption was legalized in governance years ago. People no longer wanted to follow the legit and approved channels for getting things.

It’s not pretty, but that’s the situation in Nigeria. My friend, you can make quick money in Nigeria today, only through limited channels, such as Forex trading or Bitcoin trading. But then, you must have spent months learning how to be a successful trader.

You can only make quick money online if you are already a celebrity such as an actor or musician, through influencer marketing. Even at that, you still have to engage with your audience regularly in order to market to them.

So in essence, you simply can’t make quick money online in Nigeria because everything takes time. Online business is pretty much like any real offline business. It needs time to grow and mature, it needs your care and continual investment of your time and resources (including money!). So please, take it easy. Follow the ways I will recommend on this blog, and you will succeed.

Ok. Hold it there. There is no free money online in Nigeria, much less anywhere for that matter. You know the saying, “there’s no free lunch in Freetown”. That’s an eternal truth. If you are one of those people, waiting for some SEM grant to drop on your laps, then perish the thought. It’s not ever going to come. That kind of free money doesn’t exist. Nada.

I’ve had many of my friends talk about this SEM grant, even volunteering to register my name as a beneficiary. I am usually sorry for these people because, at the end of the day, they are going to be disappointed. Don’t pin your hopes on getting any kind of free money or grant in Nigeria. It’s never going to happen.

The good news is that the exchange rate right now favors online businesses earning in dollars in Nigeria. If you are able to make dollars on a consistent basis, then you are blessed lol. You are not subject to the Nigerian economy. Your earning capacity is not determined by the weak economy. Inflation as a Nigerian problem isn’t really a problem for you, because you earn in dollars. Let me also tell you that the dollar is a very stable currency, that’s why you are kind of immune to these things.

Can I make money online with my laptop in Nigeria?

You definitely need a laptop in order to make money online in Nigeria. Even though smartphones are quite popular and common in Nigeria, and even as powerful or more powerful than laptops, there are some things a smartphone cannot do, that laptops excel in.

If you have an online business in Nigeria, you must get a laptop. That’s like the number one requirement. You can only use the smartphone to probably monitor some things, and do some things on the move, but nothing takes the place of a laptop.

Forget about those preaching that you need only your smartphone to make money online in Nigeria. It’s not totally true. Now for those wasting their time on online surveys, that is excusable. I say wasting their time because I did the same thing. I spent hours upon hours on online surveys which never paid me, and I was using only my phone. So please, get a decent laptop if you are serious about making money online in Nigeria. A used laptop can cost around N30,000 or even 25,000.

One of the ways you can make money online in Nigeria with your phone is to record live events on your smartphone, upload them to a syndicated news publisher, and get paid. However, this is subject to prior agreement with the publisher.

Many media houses in Nigeria are hungry for fresh news content to post on their websites or broadcast. These include TV Stations and newspaper houses. If you have a smartphone with a decent camera, you can actually become an amateur reporter for them. First of all, you have to reach out to them and find out whether they are accepting such content. Agree on the payment and start working.
